Special Post: Poem/Song Suggestion

by Grace 7. December 2017 21:08

Hey everyone!!!

I have something special for y'all today! (: Here's a poem I wrote a few years ago:

Humble Baby Born so Low

Humble Baby born so low,

Put inside a manger bed;

Born within a noisy stall,

With no pillow for his head.

Shepherds left their flocks to roam

Gazing at the Christmas star,

Gathered staffs and headed out,

Went to Bethlehem so far.

Wise men followed the bright star

With myrrh frankincense and gold

As gifts for the little child,

This a tale to be retold!

Thank God for his gift of love

That he gave us Christmas day,

Let us show our gratitude

By walking the holy way!

Now here's the special thing about this post - follow this link and go to 40:41 and you will see us performing this song last year at our Christmas program! I know some of you have asked if I could post a video of me singing some of my songs in the past, so I thought you all would like it. (: I wrote the lyrics, created my own tune, and then wrote out all the four harmony parts. Hard work, but I love doing it! It's a passion of mine! I wish I had more time on my hands to do it. (: Anyhow, enough of my chatter. ;)

P.S. Credit to my siblings Abigail and Daniel for key change suggestions and having one person start and then everyone gradually join in on the first verse. <3

Now let's hear from you!

Did you like my song? Were you happy that I FINALLY posted one of my own songs for you to hear? How did you like our a'cappella arrangement that I made? Do y'all know HOW EXCITED I was to share this with you????? ;)

Salt and Light

by Grace 24. June 2017 17:01
Hey everyone! Here's another poem I wrote a little while back. It was derived from one of my favorite passages in the Bible. Let me know what you think!

Salt and Light (Matt. 13-16)
You are salt upon the earth.
If you’ve no flavor, what’s your worth?
All that’s left for you my friend
Is to be trodden underfoot by men.

You’re a lamp for God; a light
That should be always gleaming bright.
If you have let your light grow dim
You stunt your usefulness to Him.

So keep your salty flavor in,
Guard your flame from liquid sin,
Lead the hell-bound souls from strife,
And let your lamp shine eternal life.

Now let's hear from you!

Did you enjoy this poem? What are some of your favorite passages in the Bible?

I'm Moving Up to a Mansion Bright/Upcoming post(s)

by Grace 5. June 2017 22:05

Hey everyone! Here's the words to a song that I wrote in 2014. Enjoy!

I'm Moving Up to a Mansion Bright

Verse 1:I'm moving up to

a mansion bright

I'm heading upwards

to love and light

I'm going home to

see my Lord there

A land to dwell in

Without a care

Verse 2:

I'm going to see

those who have gone

Before me when their

race had been won

I'm gonna greet them

on that glad day

And we'll be happy

in every way

Verse 3:

When up to heaven

I finally rise

I will rejoice

Within paradise!

I'm gonna shout of

God's victory

I'll join the song of

Grand Jubilee!

Chorus:

I'm going upwards

to see Christ there

In all His glory

so bright and fair

I'm going upwards

I'm headed homewards

I'm going up to

heaven so fair

Also, I was thinking of maybe doing something special, like interviewing someone, having someone do a guest post (by the way, check out the 'Shout Out to Fellow Poets' on the sidebar!) doing a post-a-day for a week challenge, or having a Q+A where y'all ask questions in the comments and I answer. What do y'all think? If I were to do one of those, which would be most interesting to you?

Now let's hear from you!

Did you like the song? Any suggestions as to how it could be better? And what d'y'all think of a special post/post series? What would you suggest? Do any of you have any topic suggestions for future poems?
